Cloaked Realm is pleased to announce our participation in the upcoming Manitoba Goddess Festival.

The Manitoba Goddess Festival is in the first year of operating and is Canada's First Goddess Festival! The goal is to create a space that is open to people of all genders, orientations and ways of being who want to celebrate the Feminine Divine in a format that is Spiritual, Creative and Intelligent. At the Manitoba Goddess Festival, we honor and celebrate the Goddess in all of her many facets, manners and forms. Behind this is a desire to create a safe, loving, non-judgmental, nourishing, healing, joyful and fun environment that is communal, connective and ALIVE!

Each year we honor a different Goddess and working with her aspects to create a new and unique experience - festival after festival. This year we are honoring Freyja -- Norse Goddess of Sexuality, Lust, Love, Warriorship and Death. Its been a wonderful six years and Cloaked Realm ~ Pagan Emporium has been through many incarnations. We started out with just a small table filled with sterling silver jewelry at a fair to a full homebased shop bursting at the seams. As we step into our new future we can't help but thank those who helped and supported us along the way and not forgetting all the wonderful customers who walked through our doors.

This is not a time to mourn but rather celebrate the new steps that this little shop is about to undertake. So for that reason Cloaked Realm will be hosting one last Witchy Ware Party on Sunday May 30th, 2010 from Noon to 6PM. We will be serving refreshments and of course wonderful conversation. AND in order to thank all those who have been a part of this journey we will be having a THANK YOU SALE! Everything 20% off (excluding consignment). That's right, even statuary and books will be 20% off. Plus everyone walking through the door will receive a free gift (and a really special gift for the first ten people)

Update

I promised an update so, here goes.

As of June 1, 2010 Cloaked Realm will cease the homebased operations. We will no longer be open Sundays. That's because we will be taking possession of our new store front! Yay!

Our new store will be located at 355 Langside just north of Portage right beside Hungover Empire! So exciting! One of my favorite stores! As well with this new step we decided a name change was in order to bring new life and celebrate change.

We hope our new name will appeal to a greater audience while still holding true to our Pagan roots.

Lastly, while the location is fabulous the space is in need of major repair. So we expect to have at least a few months dedicated to renovations but we are planning to open the shop full time at the beginning of September 2010. We'll be having a huge grand opening party so keep coming back for more updates!

Beltane in the Park ~ May 2nd, 2010 ~ Starting at Noon

Beltane in the Park is happening this Sunday, May 2, 2010 in Assiniboine Park in the Central Picnic Area. Festivities start at noon, ritual at 2:00 with potluck, picnic, and maypole to follow. Come rain or shine (or the slight chance of snow). Dress for it. The Beltane festivities take place whatever the weather!

How to Find the Site

From Corydon Avenue, enter Assiniboine Park at the main park entrance and go straight north toward the Pavilion along Conservatory Drive. At the Pavilion, turn left until you get to the first driveway on your right, and you will find the picnic area with the sheltering roof. Beltane will use the sheltered picnic area for the potluck. The ritual takes place behind the picnic area in the grassy space through the trees. A few of us will get there before noon and will keep our eyes open for people. We'll be taking shelter in the picnic shelter. Look for us.

What to Bring

Like any other Manitoba outdoor event, dress for the weather. And since the weather is unpredictable, be prepared for change. If the weather's nice enough, there'll be time to drum, sing, dance and otherwise visit and make your own entertainment between events.

Food

Beltane in the Park is also a picnic, where people bring their own food and share it. With that in mind, REMEMBER that people have allergies. Please know the ingredients of your food. Known allergies include, but aren't limited to, Peanuts, Seafood, Mushrooms. For the reasons of safety, good health, and just plain respect, LABEL YOUR FOOD INGREDIENTS.

Body, Mind & Spirit Show ~ April 18th, 2010

Cloaked Realm is pleased to announce that we will be vending at the Body, Mind & Spirit Show on Sunday April 18th, 2010; 10AM to 5PM at the Indo-Canadian Arts & Cultural Centre 479 St. Mary's Rd (behind Midland Appliance). This means that Cloaked Realm will be closed on the 18th.

Admission: $5 at the door (11 and under free)

Parking: Free parking on site.

Concessions: Food and drink will be available at the concessions stand.

NOTE: There is no ATM machine on site. Please bring cash for the vendors.

The purpose of the Body, Mind & Spirit Show is to bring like-minded people together to learn and find peace. We all start out not knowing. As we journey through life we encounter many events; some small, some large but these events and how we choose to let them affect us start to shape who we become.

Our event promotes holistic living, spirituality and alternative healing; showcasing mediums, psychics, card readers and channellors as well as alternative healing practitioners in the fields of Reiki, acupuncture and massage therapy to name but a few. Spirit Seekers Conference ~ March 27-28, 2010

What is Gaia Winnipeg?

Gaia Winnipeg was birthed by the team of volunteers who coordinated the Gaia Gathering 2007 in Winnipeg. It is an open and inclusive group for planning events and coordinating local efforts at building Pagan Community in Winnipeg.

Gaia Winnipeg continues the energy and inspiration of Gaia Gathering: Canadian National Pagan Conference throughout the Wheel, drawing on the creativity, connections, ideas, and relationships developed through the experience of hosting GG 2007.

In the past we raised bursary funds to sponsor Winnipeg delegates to Gaia Gatherings in Winnipeg 2007, Ottawa 2008 and Vancouver 2009.

Our goal is to assist Manitoba Pagans to attend future Gaia Gatherings in Guelph 2010 and beyond. We intend to achieve this goal through hosting local events that encourage community-building and raise funds.

Just a quick reminder to folks that Cloaked Realm will be hosting another Witchy Ware Party tomorrow from Noon to 6PM.

As many of you know Tim Jeffrey is a dear friend and a supplier to Cloaked Realm. Tim will be heading off to BC for six months as of November 1st. In honor of his great contribution to Cloaked Realm we are encouraging everyone to pop by tomorrow to buy some of Tim's products so he has a bit more cash to take with him on this new adventure. Cloaked Realm will be waving our consignment fee so 100% of the sale will go directly to Tim.

Tim just stocked us up with seed packets and beeswax candles!

My apologies to all those who may have received a SPAM email from me earlier today. Looks as though someone broke into my Gmail account and had way too much fun. They emailed every single email on my list and every single email I have ever received at that account through the list serves.

I'm not an idiot. I don't download unsafe material or open unknown email. I have a ten character password and no malware was found on my computer.

So again I'm very sorry. I would have emailed everyone directly but after they were done with my account they erased my entire contact list.

I'll be speaking to Gmail directly to find out my best course of action.

Pennies from Heaven = Abundance

A couple of days ago I set up an alter dedicated to attracting prosperity and abundance. Today as I was heading to the bank, after work, to deposit my modest paycheck I passed by a bright, shiny penny. In the split second it took to pass that penny my entire thought process about attracting abundance "changed".

Often when I see a penny just sitting there ready for a new owner I'll think to myself,"Ohhh a lucky penny, yay! I'll leave that for someone else to find, won't that be nice.", today was no different.

Abundance was tapping me on the shoulder and I said, "No thanks." But it was just a penny, right? Wrong. It's a symptom of a larger problem.

So why would I do that? Is it a fear of looking silly? Maybe I see no value in a penny? Or maybe I've been programmed to think that abundance is only for everyone but me? Well, it's all of the above.

I do fear looking silly picking up a penny but really its a fear of being judged by those who might see me do it. I've lived nearly my entire adult life in a world where I do everything I can to hide my poverty (although that has been changing recently, mostly out of anger; feeling under appreciated and marginalized but that's another post). I feel shame for being poor as if it makes me somehow less worthy than everyone else. I can't answer why that is, it just is.

We all remember the stories our parents or grandparents told us about how "a penny used to be worth something" and of all the things you could buy with just a penny. Times have changed, the Canadian Government not too long ago was petitioning for the eradication of the penny because the costs associated with making a penny are more than what a penny was worth. It's not surprising then that I look at pennies as something that weighs me down but offers no value.

Our bodies (astral and physical) and mind build memories through our actions, thoughts and through the actions and thoughts of those people who we associate with. Could it be that every time I passed up a penny I was programming my mind to reject prosperity and abundance? Yes. By rejecting something so small and seemingly insignificant I continue to reject other opportunities that I think are too small to bother with out of sheer habit and conditioning. And by thinking that "wouldn't it be nice" for someone else to find it I also conditioned myself to into thinking that everyone was more deserving, more appreciative and more worthy than myself.

Who knew that a penny could be worth so much?

On my way back from the bank I spotted that bright, shiny penny. I picked it up, it was wet and gritty from dirt (oh great now I'm attracting dirty money). As I looked at it I made a conscious decision to know that I am worthy of prosperity and abundance, then, I put it in my pocket.

So I ask, what's a penny worth to you?

Pagan Gardening Lecture by Tim Jeffrey

To kick off Cloaked Realm's new Workshop and Lecture series Tim Jeffrey has agreed to present a lecture that is very close to his heart, Pagan Gardening.

Lecture Outline and topics to be presented

* What "Pagan" Gardening is all about.
* Why you should choose a NO chemical garden.
* Explore ideas on ethics, productivity and sharing.
* The principles and practicalities of Permaculture; Masanobu Fukuoka's theories; Food Forests; Square Foot Gardening and Bio-intensive Gardening.
* Weekly labour as opposed to a seed and harvest culture; gardening with what exists; making your outputs become your inputs.
* Human centered semi-wild gardening as opposed to traditional controlled gardening.
* The cycles of life, Earth worship (Gaia); Garden altars, circles and plant devas and other items of magical interest.
* The animals, insects and birds as part of a holistic Gaia-centric garden.

This lecture/discussion will be 2 hours in length. A large amount of information will be presented so a notebook and pen are recommended as no handouts will be given. Each attendee will leave with an abundance of information and a little guerrilla gardening treat. Coffee, tea and water will be available during the session.

Tim Jeffrey is known among many as Winnipeg's Guerrilla Gardener mainly due to his Canadian "Johnny Appleseed" approach to beautifying the back alleys of Winnipeg's Northend. He is an avid permaculturalist who walks his talk. Tim takes the philosophies of Earth care and people care into every aspect of his life including his newly launched online seed company Gaia's Garden Seeds. Cloaked Realm is thrilled to host Tim as our first guest speaker.

Starting January 4th, 2009, Cloaked Realm will be open from Noon to 4PM on Sundays. This means that we will no longer be open regular hours on Saturdays. But as always, we will take clients by appointment on evening and weekends. We hope this change of hours will allow those of you who work Saturdays to join us on Sundays instead. However, we still have our regular Witchy Ware Parties mostly on Saturdays with an occasional Sunday thrown into the mix.

Yes, I am afraid it is so. While Cloaked Realm is growing by leaps and bounds we still do not make enough to justify the costs associated with debit and credit card transactions. I apologize to those who came by on November 8th to find that we didn't offer debit or credit card payments. I will be sure to make note of this on any future postings and advertising. :)

But fret not! We'll take cash! If you forget to bring that huge wad of dollars there are two interac machines within a couple of minutes walk from the shop. Just ask and I'll direct you in the right direction.

As most of you know, Cloaked Realm has regular Witchy Ware parties and the last one for this year, 2008, is on November 8th from Noon to 7PM. In the past we have had local guest artists during our WWP and I've been thinking... Why not just make it a Witchy Ware Yule Fair!?

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Witchy Ware Party on September 13, 2008. It was an excellent day, full of excitement and revelry. We saw a lot of new faces too, which makes me very happy.

For those of you who were not able to make it on Saturday, fear not, Cloaked Realm is open every Saturday from Noon to 6PM. Just pop on by!

Some sad news...

I was given some sad news yesterday.

Cloaked Realm's Canadian Pagan Gemstone Rune supplier is closing its doors. Stonelite Creations has been a supplier of Cloaked Realm for three years. We wish Chantelle blessings for the future and an ease of transition during this time of immense change.

Cloaked Realm still has a few Rune sets left and we'll be buying the last of Stonelite's stock, but once their gone; their gone. We will do our best to find quality Gemstone Runes for the future, unfortunately Stonelite Creations was the only supplier in Canada.

Chantelle it was wonderful working with you. Your a generous soul who never forgot about your customers and provided a quality product. You artistry will be missed and I wish you success in the future.

September in Winnipeg, ahhhh. No more ghost town weekends while everyone is at the cabin. Who knew we lived in cottage country?

Cloaked Realm has now re-opened its doors on Saturdays from Noon to 6PM for your shopping convenience. However, we will still open evenings and weekends for those brave enough to call ahead to make arrangements.
